Friday 4th June

Today we went to this little island in the middle of Poole Harbour called Brownsea Island. We made another picnic – Nan did her special cheese and ham and cucumber and pickle and mustard and mayonnaise sandwiches (you have to put only a little bit of mustard etc in or it gets soggy!)

Brownsea Island is really great, it’s all covered in woods and you can walk along these paths… it’s like you’re in the middle of the ocean and no-one can find you. Pearl and Slam went there once on holiday.

But, best, there are red squirrels, so sweet! Took ages before we saw one but suddenly Genie said “Look! There!” and she (he??) was sitting on a branch with something in his (her?) paws and was nibbling it. Took a picture and zoomed in to be closer but it wasn’t very good but you can JUST see him (her).

Going to get a postcard with one on for my bedroom!
