Strange walking to school this morning and still seeing all the England flags up, on people’s houses and even on their cars. There was one man at the traffic lights who saw us looking at the flag he still had on his white van – he wound down the window and said “Want it?” and when Mum said “No thanks! he unclipped it and said “Just bin it for me love will you?” and threw it over!!! Cheeky!

Anyway we’re going to put it in plastic recycling.

Fred was funny about it, he was in the playground doing weeding at break, said the team didn’t have “the Nelson spirit”! Said it wasn’t only about skill or fitness, it was about having the right spirit, like Nelson the admiral who beat the Spanish and French navies.

Fred said “Battles like that were penalty shoot-outs from start to finish, and you felt a lot worse than just sorry for yourself if you missed!”
