Did glaciers in Geography today... they look like just big sheets of ice but they do lots more for our planet. The glaciers in the Himalayas which are the huge mountains above Bangladesh and India and where the highest mountain Mount Everest is help keep millions of people alive... that's 'cos when they melt they send water down down down so the rivers can flow that people need for drinking and growing crops etc.
But snow has to fall and freeze to keep the glacier thick so there's enough ice to melt.
Mrs Redman told us glaciers move all the time VERRY slowly. In the ice ages they even moved big big rocks a LONG way.. They think that's how some of the HUGE stones at Stonehenge that really ancient temple got there, 'cos it's got giant rocks from a totally different place miles and miles away. The ice brought them thousands of years before!
Weird thought... huge ice sheets moving...
