MUST do some more Diary about Craigalvon... what was I.... oh yes, kayaking!!

We had to look out for herons. Herons stand verrrry still and look down into the water to see fish they can catch. They're really nice-looking - Nan says they remind her of head waiters in very posh restaurants!!

Thought we weren't going to see anything 'cos we'd been paddling for about half an hour but then Julia our Teamster who was in front suddenly held up her hand and we stopped. She could see round the corner and there was a heron there! She whispered “Come round VERY slowly and quietly and you'll see!”

So we did and he was so beautiful, standing TOTALLY still on the bank. We watched him for at least two minutes., Then he saw us and took off with his big wings all spread out, very slowly as if to say “I'm not scared - just thought I'd move on!”
